Our Robust Porter is a malt driven ale with a complex roasty character. Through the use of 8 different malts you can enjoy a dark brown colour with ruby highlights and a full body supported by nutty and toasty flavours. Aromas of chocolate and toffee are balanced with a pleasant bitterness at the end.
The Porter is named after the heavy-lifting port workers during the early 18th century. Hemingway's Brewery Cairns is located at the old port where sugar and other goods were loaded on and off the vessels. The ships were tied to the old Bull Horn bollards and, like the hardy wharfies of the day, were robust. This Porter is a homage to that rugged strength of days gone by.
